THE BLUE GOOSE MUSIC FESTIVAL

This music festival is ideally set on September 6, 2010 which is Monday, Labor Day at Shreveport’s Festival Plaza. Most people will be in a festive end of the summer back to school mood. We will feature national and local Rock, Pop, Reggae, Blues, R&B, and Jazz, as well as Louisiana Roots Music performers. This Labor Day event will attract new visitors as well as out if town family members to visit the city of Shreveport during this holiday weekend. BLUE GOOSE MUSIC FESTIVAL is a community event that celebrates the musical heritage of the Blue Goose Legacy. The name “Blue Goose” is derived from a grocery-bar-café that operated in the early 1900s.

The establishment of the old Blue Goose sits on the corner of Pickett and Snow Street in central Shreveport. Many legendary artists have lived and played in the Blue Goose. Jesse “Baby face” Thomas even wrote a song about the area entitled, “Blue Goose Blues.” This event honors those performers that has blessed this area with their music and made a major impact in music. Our long range goal is to expand this annual event into a 3 day festival. This event will be marketed throughout the Ark-La-Tex as well as other regions in Louisiana, Mississippi, Arkansas, and Texas. Within the city of Shreveport we will market this event as the place to be on Labor Day. A percentage of the monies raised will donated to local Shreveport/Bossier Charities.
